Where do unfinished songs go when they're not quite ready to be heard?
The Song Dormitory is a warm, playful reggae journey into an imaginary place where young songs rest in crates, melodies drift on the ocean breeze, and sweet auditory honey helps them mature and grow. Some songs wake quickly, while others need days, months, or even years before they're ready to find their voice.
With an uplifting island groove, sparkling steelpan touches, and a little dreamlike wordplay, the song celebrates the creative process and the idea that inspiration can't always be rushed. Sometimes an unfinished idea isn't lost or forgotten—it's simply sleeping, waiting for its day.
And when that day finally comes, the little song climbs out of bed, takes your hand, and says:
"I'm the song you're singing, see?" 🎶❤️🌊

The Song Dormitory
Let me tell you a little story
About my reggae music...
Down inside my dor-mi-to-ry
Sleeping songs await their story
Too young yet to come and play
Rest in crates till comes their day
Some need rhythm, some need time
Some still searching for a rhyme
So I let them sleep and grow
Where the cool sea breezes blow
Sleep, little song, take your time
Dream your riddim, find your rhyme
No need rushing through that door
You'll know when you're ready for more
Sleep, little song, dream along
One day you will find your song
Rest beneath the setting sun
Dream until your time has come
From the sky, so bright and sunny
Drips the sweet au-di-to-ry honey
Every drop becomes a sound
Till the riddim comes around
Muses hum beneath the trees
Melodies ride on the breeze
Little songs begin to grow
Where the cool sea waters flow
In a world im-ag-in-a-ry
Dreams grow wild and ex-tra-or-di-na-ry
Bass lines swimming through the night
Little chords wake with the light
Somewhere underneath the moon
Someone hums a brand-new tune
No one knows from where it came
Morning comes and gives it name
Sleep, little song, take your time
Dream your riddim, find your rhyme
No need rushing through that door
You'll know when you're ready for more
Sleep, little song, dream along
One day you will find your song
Rest beneath the setting sun
Dream until your time has come
Growing here is vo-lun-ta-ry
Nothing ever man-da-to-ry
Songs will wake when time is right
Some at dawn and some at night
Some take days and some take years
Some need laughter, some need tears
If they're not yet ready, then
Let them fall asleep again
Nothing here is ex-pla-na-to-ry
That's the way inside my story
Sometimes words just need to rest
Till the music fits them best
Open crates from long ago
See which little seeds might grow
Give them sunlight, give them rain
Maybe they will sing again
Every song will have its day
Some just take the longer way
What was sleeping yesterday
Might wake up tomorrow and play
No song lost and no song gone
Something somewhere carries on
Waiting for a melody
That will finally set it free
Then something ex-tra-or-di-na-ry
Stirred inside the dormitory
One small song woke with the dawn
Found its voice and carried on
Brushed the honey from its head
Climbed right out its little bed
Took my hand and said to me
"I'm the song you're singing, see?"
Wake, little song, your time has come
Lift your voice beneath the sun
No more sleeping anymore
Now you're walking through that door
Wake, little song, sing along
Now you've finally found your song
All those years you dreamed away
Now the world can hear you play
Dor-mi-to-ry...
Au-di-to-ry...
Im-ag-in-a-ry...
Sleep, little songs...
Till you're ready to play...
