End Of The Road

AN-26 · Blues Rock · Texas Blues-Rock Boogie · 23 August 2026

**End Of The Road** is an upbeat Texas blues-rock boogie about discovering that settling down doesn't have to mean giving up.

The song follows a lifelong wanderer who has spent years chasing horizons, sleeping wherever the road took him and wearing his independence like armor. But eventually the road stops calling quite so loudly — not because he's tired, beaten or afraid, but because he's finally found something worth staying for.

And she isn't there to tame him.

She's every bit as tough as he is, just built differently: steel in her laugh, fire in her hands, scars of her own and absolutely no interest in pretending to be anyone else. They don't break the same way, but they understand the same hard language.

At its heart, **End Of The Road** is about the difference between being trapped and choosing to stay. The motorcycle and blacktop aren't going anywhere, but now there's a porch to come home to, someone waiting there, and an old restless heart that has finally found a place where it belongs.

The road didn't beat him.

He simply found something better at the end of it.

Lyrics

I had my boots on fire Had my name in the dust Ran that hard wind mile after mile Till the chrome turned rust I slept where the road ran thin Ain’t no place I stayed Kept one eye on the horizon line And one on the blade But the miles don’t call me now Like they used to do Something in me heard that door And I walked on through End of the road, end of the road Ain’t a fall, ain’t a load End of the road, end of the road I found my way back home She got steel in her laugh Fire in her hand Same hard soul as me Just a different brand (End of the road) She can gut a stormy day With a look and a grin Talks plain as a fence-post nail Never begs to fit in She’s got scars like a second skin I know mine by name We don’t break the same way, babe But we burn the same Now the lone wolf’s gone quiet And I ain’t ashamed If a hard ride turns to a shared porch That’s a better game End of the road, end of the road Ain’t a fall, ain’t a load End of the road, end of the road I found my way back home She got steel in her laugh Fire in her hand Same hard soul as me Just a different brand (End of the road) I still love the blacktop I still love the race But I love the way she looks at me Like I’ve earned a place So I’ll hang my restless heart On a nail by the door Let the wild one fade away I don’t need it anymore End of the road, end of the road Ain’t a fall, ain’t a load End of the road, end of the road I found my way back home She got steel in her laugh Fire in her hand Same hard soul as me Just a different brand (End of the road) Yeah, the road runs out And I’m all right with that Found a tough little truth, baby And I’m stayin’ where I’m at
