๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŸ Lion Fish Song ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฆ

Some fishing trips are about filling the cooler. Others are about helping the reef. ๐ŸŒŠโ˜€๏ธ

This song is inspired by the divers and anglers who remove invasive lionfish to protect the ocean. Every lionfish caught can mean thousands of tiny minnows get another chance to grow and thrive. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’™

And of course, no trip would be complete without old friends:
๐ŸŸ Wilbur the goliath grouper, always knowing where the lionfish are hiding.
๐Ÿ Murder Ribbon, the big green moray, coming to inspect the catch.
๐Ÿงฆ Sock Puppet, the shy speckled eel, peeking out just enough to see what's going on.

๐ŸŽถ
"Murder, murder, Murder Ribbon,
Coming to see what I caught for you...
Cutting the spines, the sun it shines,
Sock Puppet, come out and play."
๐ŸŽถ

Here's to healthy reefs, curious sea creatures, and another beautiful day on the water. ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒŠโ˜€๏ธ

Lyrics

Lion fish on the reef today, Me and my buddy headin' out the bay, Little motor hummin', dawn so bright, Blue water dancin' in the morning light. Wilbur rises, big old face, Turns in circles by the place, He knows every crack and every stone, Shows us where the lion fish roam. Every lion fish we bring aboard, Means a thousand little minnows restored, Tiny silver flashes in the sea, A better reef for you and me. Chorus: Murder, murder, Murder Ribbon, Comin' to see what I caught for you. Cutting the spines, the sun it shines, Sock Puppet, come out and play. Murder, murder, Murder Ribbon, Sliding out from the coral blue. One more lion fish in the cooler box, Saving the reef for another day too. Drop the line and hold our breath, Lion fish waiting in the shadows left, Feather fins and a venom crown, One by one we're takin' them down. Sock Puppet peeks with a curious eye, Watching little bubbles drift on by, Won't come out more than half his head, Waiting till the lion fish all are dead. Wilbur follows like an old sea dog, Big as a truck and twice as broad, Never asks for a thing at all, Just a little snack when the shadows fall. Bridge: The reef remembers every hand, That helps the life beneath the sand, Minnows dancing where they belong, The ocean singing its grateful song. Final Chorus: Murder, murder, Murder Ribbon, Comin' to see what I caught for you. Cutting the spines, the sun still shines, Sock Puppet, come out and play. Wilbur circles, slow and proud, Grouper king beneath the clouds, Another day and another reef, A little more life beneath the sea.
